Port Ellen 22 Years Old 1st Release 1979 – The first edition from the silent distillery
The Port Ellen distillery, on the island of Islay, closed its doors in 1983 and has since become the most mythical and coveted in the world of whisky. Every year, Diageo releases a very limited number of bottles from existing reserves. The 1st edition, distilled in 1979, was the world's first encounter with the Port Ellen style: smoky, maritime, floral, and with an Islay elegance that can no longer be reproduced.
In the glass, the Port Ellen 22-year-old offers a historic experience: intense and fragrant Islay peat, sea salt, lemon, vanilla, and a background of old oak. On the palate, the texture is smooth and of great elegance, with the characteristic smoke perfectly integrated. The finish is very long and persistently mineral.
One of the most historic bottles of the modern whisky era. For the most ambitious collections. Irreplaceable.
